The BED Drivers are the underlying components of the Moods.

The 3 BED Drivers are: Buoyancy, Energy, and Disposition

Your Current mood is just the combination, in the moment, of a Buoyancy setting, an Energy setting and a Disposition setting. Therefore, adjusting your setting on any one of the 3 BED Drivers will move you to a new Current mood in a flash.

The available settings on each Driver are:

  • Buoyancy is your mental approach to life right now, and its setting moves up and down a sliding scale of sceptical-pragmatic-optimistic.

  • Energy is the amount of physical energy available to you right now, and its setting moves up and down a sliding scale of languid-steady-energetic.

  • Disposition indicates your overall approach to the world right now, and moves backwards and forwards across two settings: head (T, thinking) and heart (F, feeling).

Each of the 6 Moods is simply a combination of the 3 Bed Drivers, and each Driver is within your control. With practice you can therefore adjust your Moods as the various situations and people you encounter demand. This is done by first putting yourself into a mood you are very Comfortable with (typically your Home mood) and then tweaking one or two of your Drivers to arrive at the desired destination mood.

For example, if you set your Drivers to optimistic, energetic and thinking, you’ll start to Convince others (T+) very easily. Likewise with your Drivers set to sceptical, languid and feeling, you’ll find that Comforting others (F-) will come very naturally.

As it happens, very few people cover the whole range on each of the 3 Drivers with ease, and most of us have one, or perhaps two, rusty Drivers.  The trick is to identify which of your Moods or Drivers need oiling, and get to it!

Once you master the full range on all 3 Drivers, more of life will feel easy, and all your relationships will run more smoothly. More success will ensure, however you define success.
